Fact: Aldi is one of the best places to find healthful, high-protein snacks that will tide you over until your next meal. Each of these finds contains between 5 and 10 grams of protein per serving (the perfect amount for a snack). They also have simple ingredients, are super portable, and many are even organic. These are my favorite high-protein snacks to eat on the go or at my desk between meetings.
1. Simply Nature Raw Almonds, Pecans, and Pistachio Kernels, $5 for 8 ounces
This tasty raw nut mix contains some of the most potent sources of plant-based protein and healthy fats you can find in one convenient 8-ounce bag. Almonds and pistachios are a great source of plant protein, and pecans are well-known for their antioxidant content, healthy monounsaturated fats (which are great for your heart!), and high amounts of vitamin E (which is good for your skin). With 6 grams of protein per 1/4 cup, this is one healthy snack not to pass up!
2. Simply Nature Organic Chia Bars with Pumpkin Seeds and Cranberries, $4 for 5
Aldi’s Simply Nature line is a go-to brand for when you’re on the hunt for high-quality snacks. These Chia Bars with Pumpkin Seeds and Cranberries offer 5 grams of protein per bar and are a good source of fiber, vitamin C, and healthy omega-3 fats. They’re also a good source of magnesium and really help take the afternoon hunger pangs away. Stash one in your purse, desk, or work bag, and you’ll be good to go.
3. Simply Nature Pumpkin Seed & Flax Granola, $3 for 11.5 ounces
This Simply Nature Pumpkin Seed and Flax Granola is loaded with protein (7 grams), is incredibly tasty, and has nutrient-dense whole grains and seeds. Use it as a daily topping for smoothies or yogurt.
4. Elevation Peanut Butter Cookie Bars, $4 for 5
Elevation Peanut Butter Cookie Bars may look like a dessert, but they’re secretly good for you and are a great source of protein! The ingredient list consists of peanuts, dates, and sea salt — that’s it! Not all the Elevation bars are high in protein, but any of those with almonds and peanuts are a safe bet. With 6 grams of protein per bar, this is a great option to crush those mid-afternoon cravings.
5. Southern Grove 100-Calorie Packs of Whole Almonds, $3 for 7 bags
The only ingredient found in these convenient 100-calorie packs? Natural almonds! As you may have gathered by now, almonds are a fantastic source of protein and offer vitamin E, healthy fats, magnesium, potassium, and fiber to boot. This pack contains 7 grams of protein per pack, and the convenience is pretty nice. Aldi has another 100-calorie nut pack, which I can also get behind, with walnuts and almonds or cashews and almonds.
Other high-protein snacks to keep your eyes peeled for at Aldi include mini hummus containers, unsweetened individual instant oatmeal packets, a variety of trail mix options, several varieties of yogurt, and some of the whole-grain cereals. Even better? Pair these things with some fresh fruit and freshly cut veggies for an even healthier, well-rounded snack.
