What’s in the water in Connecticut?
Six senior citizens are facing sex charges after being arrested on August 16th in a Fairfield, Connecticut conservation area according to local reports.
Ranging in age from 62 to 85, police say the six individuals were involved in lewd and sexual activity in the Grace Richardson Conservation Area, a 87.4 acre open region used for local hiking, wildlife conservation, and wetland protection.
The Connecticut Post reports that authorities say the area was being publicized online as a rendezvous point for people to meet and have sex in a “City Hookup Guide,” and because of area surveillance they have observed several violations.
The woman and five men arrested face charges ranging from public indecency to breach of peace, and were all released on promises to appear in court at a later date, though no date was given.
The following arrests were made: Daniel Dobbins, 67, charged with breach of peace and public indecency; Otto D. Williams, 62, charged with breach of peace; Charles L. Ardito, 75, charged with breach of peace; John Linartz, 62, charged with breach of peace and public indecency; Richard Butler, 82, breach of peace; Joyce Butler, 85, breach of peace.
Given the names of those arrested, it appears the 82-year-old man and 85-year-old woman may be married!
Facebook commenters on the ABC7 Morning Show page got a kick out of the story, writing:
“What in the Florida were they thinking ????”
“These people need an award not jail time”
“Bless their hearts!”
“It’s in the woods, they’re old! Let them YOLO for once in their life! 😡😂”
“Everyone saying let them be, let them do there thing… really! If it was young people, you’d all be losing your minds[sp].”
“The only lewd thing I can imagine is what was swinging between the ol guys legs. Let them have some fun. Poor things haven’t had any in God knows how long”
Per the CT Post, at least one of the men involved in the incident was previously arrested on similar charges. In May 2017, one of the arrestees was issued a misdemeanor summons of second-degree breach of peace by the New Canaan Police after witnesses spotted him walking around a park naked.
Police later found him in his car with his shirt and shorts draped over his body with no underwear on, and say the arrestee told him he was in his birthday suit for medical reasons.
We can only hope to be kickin’ in our old age, too!
